PRINCE ATHLETIC COMPLEX: The University of Rochester was able to elude the offsides trap numerous times on Friday evening and captured a 7-0 victory over Alfred State College. Rochester improved to 8-2. Alfred State is 1-8-1. The match was played at Edwin Fauver Stadium.

Six players scored goals for the Yellowjackets.
Madison Drenowatz had two – one in each half. She also had an assist.
Carolyn Richards and
Savannah Berry had a goal and an assist apiece.
Sophie Wolf,
Emily Tompkins, and
Liz Mastoloni had the other goals. Live Penegor and
Jorie Freitag had one assist each.

In goal,
Emma Schechter played the first 51:14. She made one save. Becca Rush played 38;46. She was not required to make a save. For Alfred State, Gretchen Hendrickson played the first 9:35 (no saves). Laura Mecca played 51:44 (six saves, five GA), and Tatiana Henry played the last 28:41 (two saves, two goals allowed).

Berry scored the opener. Penegor came down right wing and angled a pass into the middle that Berry drove to the low left corner. She set up the second goal, scored by Drenowatz at 39:22. Berry lofted a corner into the penalty area and Drenowtz headed it just over the reach of Mecca and just under the crossbar for a 2-0 lead at intermission.

Richards, Mastoloni (with Drenowatz assisting), and Drenowatz scored just nine minutes apart to start the second half. That made it 5-0.

Rochester stays home to host the University of Chicago on Sunday at 11 a.m. That game will be followed by a men's game between the same two schools.
