Coming off a big conference win over NYU on Friday, the Rochester men's basketball shipped off to Boston on Sunday to face off against Brandeis University. The Yellowjackets were seeking revenge from their 75-69 loss to Brandeis a week ago, and earned an impressive 78-52 win over the host Judges.
Â
Brandeis was ahead 15 to 11 with 13:30 left in the first half. However, over the course of the next 10 minutes, it was all Rochester. The Yellowjackets proceeded to dominate on both ends of the floor, going on a 19-0 run to make it 30-15. UR would lead by as many as 20 in the half, finishing with a 40-21 lead at the break.
Â
Rochester shot 64% from the floor in the first half, including 57.1% from downtown. All of this while holding Brandeis to 36% shooting and 25% from beyond the arc.
Â
Andrew Lundstrom,
Trent Noordsij, and
Ryan Clamage led the way for the Yellowjackets in the first half. Lundstrom had 10 points, Noordsij posted 9 points, and Clamage contributed 7 points.
Â
Rochester would pick up right where they left off in the second half, with
Jacob Wittig opening up the scoring by draining a three-pointer. Wittig's triple would be the start of a 14-1 run to open up the second half. UR kept their foot on the gas the rest of the way, growing the lead to as large as 34.
Â
Rochester also controlled the boards, out rebounding the Judges 35-16. The Yellowjackets would finish the game shooting 64.6% and 53.8% from beyond the arc.
Â
Lundstrom would lead the way for Rochester, finishing with 12 points. Noordsij,
Brendan O'Shea, and Clamage each finished with nine points, with Kailen Lee and
Ryan Algier not far behind with eight points apiece. UR finished with 12 players scoring in the game.
Â
In the loss a week ago, UR allowed Collin Sawyer and Eric D'Aguanno to score 23 points and 21 points, respectively. It was just a little different this time around as D'Aguanno finished with 13 points, while Sawyer was held to just five points.
Â
With the win, Rochester improves to 16-4 overall and 6-3 in UAA play.
Â
Rochester returns home next weekend as they are set to host University of Chicago on Firday night, and WUSTL on Sunday for Senior Day.
