Bourne Gets Career High 8 Ks; UR Splits DH at St. Lawrence

CANTON, N.Y. – Rochester split a Liberty League doubleheader against St. Lawrence on Thursday afternoon.  The Yellowjackets produced 15 hits in game one, an 8-1 victory, but were held to seven hits in game two, a 2-1 loss.

A seventh inning rally in second game fell just short. The offense was held in check for the first six innings (five hits). Rochester stranded seven runners in the first five innings. UR had the bases loaded in the third with a two-out rally: singles by Sammi Re and Alizah Ayon, and a walk to Jen Carson. SLU's Gabby Slater induced Jessica Conforti to pop out to shot to end the inning.

In the UR seventh, Marissa Russo doubled down the left field line. .Harleigh Kaczegowicz hit a fly ball to center field that was dropped. Russo had to hold. Re grounded to third with the runners advancing. Ayon grounded a single up the middle. SLU's McKailey Lyndaker knocked it down. Russo scored, but Lyndaker threw out Kaczegowicz at the plate. Carson lined out to short ending the game.
