A strong second half from the Rochester men's team played a factor in their 80-65 victory over Brandeis University on Friday at the Louis Alexander Palestra.
With the win, the Yellowjackets (14-7, 5-5 UAA) now hold an all-time record of 50-17 against Brandeis (15-6, 7-3 UAA).
Early points from Trent Noordsij resulted in seven points in the first five minutes of action. He finished the game with a team-high 17 points to go with seven rebounds.
Brian Amabilino Perez added to Rochester's successful night after adding nine points in the first half. He ended with 14 points and two steals.
Both sides remained competitive in the first half of play, as each team shot over 40% from the field respectively. A total of 13 free throws allowed Rochester to grasp a 33-29 advantage at halftime.
The Yellowjackets offense managed to make six of their first eight shots in the second half. Kailan Lee, who totaled 11 points points and three assists on Friday, accounted for five points during the stretch.
Both Ross Gang and Ryan Algier played key roles in Rochester's victory. Gang finished with 13 points, nine boards and four assists. As for Algier, he added 14 points and eight rebounds.
The clean play by Rochester allowed for them to lead by as many as 19 points in the second half.
The men finished 28-of-47 (59.6%) from the field, 5-of-13 (38.5%) from deep and 19-of-32 (59.4%) from the charity stripe. They managed to outrebound Brandeis by a 33-29 margin.
Rochester will look to continue their success against New York University on Sunday at 12pm.
