A strong offensive outing from Occidental College put them in the win column against the Rochester men's baseball team by a score of 13-2 on Wednesday in California. 

In the bottom of the first, Occidental (9-6) jumped out to a 2-0 lead over Rochester (1-4) and first-year starter Jason Cobert. The outing marked Cobert's season of the season for the Yellowjackets. He managed to string together a full three innings of work, striking out two in the process. 

An RBI from Aaron Whitley in the second inning permitted Rochester's first run of the game. The RBI marked Whitley's first of the new campaign. 

The bottom of the fourth inning granted Occidental the opportunity to score five more runs. The same incidence occurred in the following inning, bringing their advantage to 12-1 over Rochester.

A sacrifice fly from David Rieth in the seventh granted an additional run for the Yellowjackets. Rieth was one of six players to secure a hit on Wednesday.  

Occidental managed to bring in another run before sealing away the game. 

The Yellowjackets will look to bring in their second win of the new season as they play against Whittier College on Thursday at 3pm (PT).
