HOUGHTON, N.Y. - Rochester scored a goal in each half to post a 2-0 men's soccer victory at Houghton College on Saturday evening. The Yellowjackets improved to 8-2-3 overall. UR is 2-2 in the University Athletic Association with three league matches remaining: at NYU next Friday, at Brandeis on October 31, and home vs. Emory on November 6. Houghton is 6-9 overall, 5-1 in the Empire 8.

Ryan Cacace got the start in goal for Rochester. He faced nine shots and made four saves. It is his second shutout this season. The win was Rochester's third in a row, all by shutout. The Yellowjackets have eight shutouts this year. Sam Carpenter was the Houghton goalie. He made four saves, facing 13 shots.

Tommy Nelson put Rochester ahead at 20:07 scoring an unassisted goal. Rochester doubled the lead through
Santi Ponce Ocampo at 52:47. He had the ball on the left side and was trying to backtrack slightly to find space. His ball bent into the lower right hand corner of the goal.

With about 15 minutes left, Cacace came off his line to track a bouncing lead pass by Houghton. In the closing minutes with Houghton pressing,
Will Eisold hustled back to capture a long lead pass. He cleared it over the right attacking sideline, thwarting the chance.
