CHICAGO – Maina Ngobia lined a 30-yarder into the corner of the goal less than five minutes into sudden death overtime to give the University of Chicago a 1-0 men's soccer victory over the University of Rochester on Saturday afternoon.

It broke up an epic defensive battle between the two teams. Chicago, ranked #20 in the current poll conducted by the United Soccer Coaches, is 8-3-1, 1-1 in the University Athletic Association. Rochester is 5-2-3, 0-2 in the UAA.

The Maroons unleashed a total of 15 shots in the match, six of which were on goal. Rochester goalie
Santino Lupica-Tondo made five saves. He had three of his stops in the first 45 minutes when Chicago tried eight shots. Rochester was challenged to get free for shots. The Yellowjackets had four attempts. Calvin Walters picked up the shutout in goal for UC.

Rochester will host Carnegie Mellon next Friday at the Brian Prince Athletic Complex (7:30 pm kickoff) and Case Western Reserve on Sunday at 1:30 pm. All matches will be played in Edwin Fauver Stadium.
