SELINSGROVE, PA – Rochester had thrilling sets in a pair of volleyball matches against Stevens and Susquehanna University at SU's Invitational on Saturday afternoon. Stevens defeated the Yellowjackets, 3-0 (23-25, 19-25, 15-25). Susquehanna posted a 3-0 win as well (11-25, 22-25, 18-25).

For two matches,
Megan Gatz totaled 22 kills,
La'i Yuen totaled 27 digs. The other statistical contributions were divided between the two matches.

Vs. Stevens: Gatz had eight kills.
Sonia McGaffigan had eight kills, and
Kellie McCrea had three to go along with two blocks.
Ella Sokolowski and McGaffigan had one block each.
Ana Cerezer, McGaffigan, and Yuen each had an ace.
Isabelle Miranda had 11 assists.
Zaira Reyes had five, and
Alexia Nelms had four. Cerezer added six digs to accompany nine by Yuen. Sokolowski had five digs.

In the first set, UR edged ahead, 13-12 on a 4-0 run with Nelms serving three of the four points. Rochester led by three late (23-20) before the Ducks took advantage of two kills, an ace, and two errors by UR to win, 25-23.

The second set saw Stevens roar back from a 3-0 deficit with an 11-1 burst. Rochester's 7-1 run pulled the Yellowjackets within 22-18. Gatz had two kills and McGaffigan served an ace in that seven-point rip. In the final set, an early Duck lead withstood a later 5-2 run by Rochester.

Vs. Susquehanna: Gatz had 13 kills.
Kaylin Williams and
Gillian Reeder had three apiece. Williams had four blocks. Reyes had nine assists and Nelms had seven. Yuen totaled 18 digs. Cerezer had 12, and Gatz had eight.

Rochester used a 4-0 run early in set one to stay within 8-6. The hosts assumed command with a 9-2 run. In the second set, Susquehanna jumped in front and eventually built the lead to 21-10. Rochester fought back gallantly, outscoring the home side 11-2 to get within 23-21. Gatz had three kills and Yuen served a pair of aces before SU won two of the last three points to take a 2-0 lead in sets.

The Yellowjackets fought hard in the third set. Down 7-2, they scored four quick points: two kills from Gatz, one by Reyes, and a Susquehanna error to move within 7-6. Gatz and Reeder had kills as UR closed to 12-11 after trailing 11-7. They got as close as 18-17 on a Gatz kill before SU finished on a 7-1 sprint.
