FREDONIA, NY – The University of Rochester hit eight home runs in a doubleheader at Fredonia State University on Tuesday afternoon. The Yellowjackets hit four round-trippers in the first game and four more in the nightcap. UR won the first game 21-0 and took the nightcap 10-1. Rochester improved to 17-4 overall. Fredonia State is 2-6.

Hannah Keiper hit four – two in each game.

Alizah Ayon,
Madi Turner, and
Alexis Pope hit one apiece.

Game One:
The Yellowjackets compiled 19 hits, 21 runs, and nine walks in posting the non-conference victory.
Hannah Leahy allowed two baserunners – singles in the first and fourth – to pick up her sixth straight win. She struck out two.

UR hit four home runs – two by Keiper (two-run shots in the third and fifth), a solo by Ayon in the third, and a grand slam by Gilbreath in the fifth when the Yellowjackets scored 11 runs on eight hits, four walks and one hit batsman.

Russo scored five runs in the sweep.
Marissa Russo drew three walks and scored each time.
Sammi Re had two walks and an RBI double.
Toni Anne Hahn had two hits and two walks. The Yellowjackets scored six runs in the second on four hits and four walks. Pope's two-run double as the 10
th hitter in the inning made it 6-0. It went to 10-0 in the third on Ayon's leadoff home run, Re's run-scoring double, and Keiper's first two-run shot of the game.

Game Two:
Rochester scored in every inning – two in the first, three in the second, two in the third and fourth, and one run in the fifth. Fredonia broke the shutout by scoring an earned run in the fourth inning when UR led, 9-0. Eva FitzSimmons doubled to center. Marisa Sultana came in to run for her. A single by Nicole Kumro moved her to third and she scored on a 3-6 groundout.

Abbie Biggs went the distance for her sixth win. She allowed three hits, walked three, and fanned three. After the Blue Devils got the back to back hits by FitzSimmons and Kumro, Biggs answered by getting a strikeout, the RBI groundout, and an infield pop. She set down Fredonia in order in the fifth.

Rochester took charge right away. Russo doubled to lead off. She advanced on a wild pitch, then scored on Hahn's double. Three walks followed, the second one by
Allison Beckwith brought home the run. It was 2-0.

Russo scored another run in the second, getting home when
Sammi Re's infield bouncer deflected off a fielder. Keiper hit her third of the day right afterward for a 5-0 lead. Turner lined one over the left field fence in the third to score
Jen Carson. Keiper and Pope hit solo home runs in the fourth. The last run was driven in by Keiper who drew a bases-loaded walk.
