Ithaca gets 13-5 Lax Win Over UR in First of Back-To-Back Games

ITHACA, NY – Unbeaten Ithaca College got off to a blazing start on Friday afternoon as the team scored five goals in a span of less than five minutes early in the first half. The Bombers went on to a 13-5 victory.
 
Ithaca improved to 8-0 overall, 6-0 in the Liberty League. Rochester is 2-4 overall, 0-3 in the Liberty League. The same two teams will play at the Brian F. Prince Athletic Complex's Edwin Fauver Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The match will begin at 2 p.m.
 
Jacqui Hallack and Megan Motkowski had first half hat tricks for Ithaca. It was 8-1 when the horn sounded to end the first half. Caroline Grant and Alexa Ritchie had solo goals. Hallack led all scorers with five goals when the match ended.
 
Mary Panepento scored two goals for Rochester and assisted on a goal by Emily Voss. The other scores came from Grace Crochiere (off a free position to start the second half) and Emma Little (assisted by Lucy Haggerty).
 
Rochester's initial goal came off the stick of Panepento. The senior converted a free position shot with 13:29. Just over two minutes later, Kendra Jones hit the post on a free position shot for UR. The Bombers broke out on a counterattack and Motkowski grabbed her third goal of the game, increasing the lead to 7-1.
 
UR goalkeeper Carlie BenDavid made 11 saves in the first half. She finished with 18 stops. Ithaca's Mackensie Shade had four saves in the first half, including a point-blank stop of Emily Voss just before the halftime horn sounded. Kayla Hawley came on at halftime and made three saves. UR was challenged in the circle on offense as Ithaca pressed to disrupt the attack.
