Two days, two All-America honors for sophomore Aaron Whitley of the University of Rochester baseball team.
 
Whitley was named an ABCA/Rawlings 2nd Team All-American from the American Baseball Coaches Association, announced on Thursday afternoon.
 
The All-American award is Whitley's second in as many days and his eighth postseason honor following a terrific sophomore season in 2021.
 
Previously, Whitley has been named Liberty League Player of the Year, 1st Team All-Liberty League outfielder, Liberty League Tournament Most Outstanding Player, NCAA Marietta Regional All-Tournament Team, D3Baseball.com All-New York Region 1st Team, ABCA/Rawlings All-New York Region 1st Team and D3Baseball.com All-American 2nd Team.
 
Whitley is just the third All-American in team history for Rochester baseball, joining Tom Havens from 1991 and Jim Ritzel in 1993, both of whom were ABCA selections. Havens was a 1st Team honoree and Ritzel was selected to the 3rd team.
 
This season, the UR sophomore got it done in all phases of the game, at the plate, with the glove and on the basepaths.
 
With the bat, Whitley hit .475 (56-118), adding 19 doubles, 5 triples, 5 home runs and 34 RBI. His doubles mark was a UR single-season school record while his batting average mark ranks second in UR single-season history. Additionally, Whitley compiled an .847 slugging percentage, recording 100 total bases and reached base at a .572 clip.
 
Defensively, the sophomore did not commit an error in the outfield, recording 45 putouts and three outfield assists in 48 chances. He was one of 15 players in the Liberty League who recorded a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage this season.
 
On the basepaths, he was a terror for opposing defenses, scoring 48 runs and was 28-for-30 in stolen base attempts. Whitley ended up ranking inside the top-10 in Division III in steals and is was fourth in school history in a single-season in both runs and stolen bases.
