CHICAGO – NYU strung together three solid performances and defeated Rochester, 3-0 (25-19, 25-11, 25-5) at the University Athletic Association volleyball Round Robin #1 at the University of Chicago on Sunday morning. The Yellowjackets are 5-6 overall, 0-3 in the league. Further Round Robins will be held at Brandeis and Emory. The championships will be played at Case Western Reserve in November.
 
Megan Gatz finished with eight kills and eight digs. Ella Sokolowski had four kills. Zaira Reyes registered 11 assists. Ana Cerezer had seven digs and Megan Hauer had five digs.
 
NYU totaled 42 kills, hitting .393. The Violets produced 47 digs to repel Rochester attacks and had 10 block assists. In the first set, Rochester built an early lead, 12-7, on an ace by Hauer. Rochester's last lead in the set was at 15-14. The Violets surged in front and maintained it throughout the set.
 
Rochester plays at RIT on Wednesday evening, ,then will host SUNY Geneseo on September 28.
