UR Picks Up Another Road Win, Beats Keuka 4-0

KEUKA PARK, NY – The University of Rochester women's soccer team remains unbeaten in road games this season after a 4-0 shutout victory over Keuka College on Wednesday evening at the Jephson Complex.

Sophomore Claire Grover recorded a hat trick, while senior Liv Penegor earned the game-winning goal, notching Rochester's first goal of the game.

The win moves UR to 3-2-1 on the season, with the Yellowjackets being 3-0-1 in road contests. Keuka falls to 0-6-2 this season with the defeat.

Rochester's first goal of the game came in the seventh minute off the foot of Penegor. She deposited her shot into the left side of the net, volleying in a pass from the right corner by teammate Kailee Sowers. It was Penegor's first goal of the 2021 campaign.

Grover doubled the Yellowjackets lead in the 24th minute. After a goal kick from Emma Schechter, the ball found Robin de Jong in the midfield. De Jong slipped a terrific pass through two Wolves defenders and Grover did the rest, finding the net for the 2-0 lead.

Five minutes later, Syd Coggins had a great chance at the left post after a ball came in from the right side, but Keuka keeper Jessica Pegg made a terrific diving save on the header attempt.

Keuka's first and only shot of the opening half was an attempt from Morgan Fuller from about 25 yards out in the center of the field. The high ball ended up sailing just about the crossbar.

Grover's two other scores came in the second half, in the 62nd and 86th minute. To make it 3-0, Grover put a beautiful header to the low right corner after a Talie Lyon cross from the wing. De Jong factored in the play as well, swinging the ball over to Lyon along the right sideline, setting up the play.

The final tally of the day came after Keuka couldn't control a long kick into the midfield and came to the foot of Grover. The sophomore dribbled to about 25 yards out and blasted a strike to the lower left corner for her first career hat trick.

Rochester commanded the stat sheet on the night, outshooting the Wolves 20-2, while also recording all seven corner kicks in the game. Pegg finished with six saves on the night. Schechter played 75 minutes in goal for UR and earned the win, while Becca Rust finished the last 15 minutes, with neither 'Jacket keeper being forced to make a save.

UR's next contest is Saturday morning at Waynesburg University. Kickoff is set for 11 am.
