ALEXANDER PALESTRA –Rochester swept Oneonta State and Medaille College, 3-0, on Saturday to finish with a 3-1 record in the UR Invitational Tournament. The Yellowjackets are tied for second place with Smith College of Massachusetts. Smith handed UR its only loss of the tournament with a 3-2 win on Friday night. Overall, the Yellowjackets are 4-1.

Against Oneonta, Rochester posted victories of 25-14, 25-17, 25-21. UR defeated Medaille College, 25-15, 25-15, 25-16.

Rochester vs. Oneonta: UR opened with a .290 hitting percentage against the Red Dragons. Neither team hit well in set two. Rochester hit .226 in the third set to nail down the victory. In a balanced field,
Diana Karosas had seven kills,
Ana Cerezer and
Megan Gatz had five each.
Isabelle Miranda had six aces. Karosas had four, and
La'i Yuen had two.

The Yellowjackets had nine blocks – three each by
Kaylin Williams,
Kellie McCrea, and
Ilaria Benciolini. Yuen led the dig leaders with eight. Karosas contributed five, and
Isabelle Miranda had five.

Oneonta's Kaelyn DeLello and Ashanti Davis had five kills each. Karli Chamberlin had four. She added three aces and Kayla Rende had two. Ashanti Davis had four blocks. Rende compiled 20 assists. Alicea was the dig leader with eight, followed by Chamberlin and Rende at six apiece.

Rochester vs. Medaille: The Yellowjackets rode hitting percentages of .333 and.324 in the first two sets to take command of the match vs. the Mavericks. UR hit .274 for the three events.

Rochester had 13 aces, five by Cerezer. Karosas had three and
Lauren Lopez had two. Three other players had one apiece. The kill leaders were spread out: two had five (Karosas and
Sonia McGaffigan). Four others produced four (Gatz, Cerezer, Williams and Benciolini).
Alexia Nelms had 13 assists and
Zaira Reyes had a dozen.

For Medaille, Halle Borgas had seven kills. Adrianna Parsons had four. Â Haley Kennedy had 14 assists. Parsons led the dig leaders with 11. Baylee Romano had seven, and Cierra Tripp had six.

RIT won all four of its matches. The Tigers were the only unbeaten team. Smith and Rochester both finished 3-1. Oneonta was 0-2. Buffalo State and Medaille were 0-3.
