WHITTIER, Calif. – Whittier College swept a doubleheader from Rochester on Saturday afternoon to conclude UR's spring break trip to the West Coast. The hosts won the opener, 5-2, with a sixth-inning rally. That inspiration carried over into game two with a run-ruled 8-0 win. Rochester will be off until March when the Yellowjackets travel to St. John Fisher College.

Game One:
Whittier 5, Rochester 2: The Poets rallied for three runs on four hits in the bottom of the sixth inning right after two fielding errors allowed Rochester to tie the score at 2-2.
Held to one hit and four baserunners through the first five innings, Rochester created two unearned runs to even the score.
Ally Kim reached on a fielding error by the right fielder and advanced to third base.
Bailey Nicholoff brought her home with a sac fly to left.
Bryce West flew out to right field.
Hannah Keiper walked, reaching base for the third straight time.

Loren Castilloux singled to center, moving Keiper to third.
Kristen Myers came on to run for Keiper. An error by the shortstop allowed Myers to race home with the tying run.
Erin Bevec singled through the left side. .Whittier starter Katelyn Calvetti escaped further damage by retiring
Hunter Gilbreath on an infield pop.

The Poets got a leadoff double in their half of the sixth. Lauren West, working in her third inning of relief, retired Facio on an infield pop. Three straight singles followed, plating two runs. The final run came home when the Poets executed a delayed double steal.

Calvetti got the win by allowing three hits over the seven innings with two walks and six strikeouts. She is 3-1.
Abbie Biggs started for Rochester. She allowed four hits, two earned runs and walked two. Keys pitched the last three innings, giving up five hits, three earned runs, and fanning three.

Game Two:
Whittier 8, Rochester 0 (5 inns.): The game one rally boosted the Poets in game two as they won a no-hitter shortened by the mercy rule. After Whittier scored a run in the bottom of the first, Rochester tried an immediate rally in the second. Allyson Beckwith reached first on an infield error. Katy White flied to left.
Bailey Nicholoff forced Beckwith at second base for the second out. Nicholoff promptly stole second to put the tying run in scoring position. An inning-ending strikeout followed.

Whittier scored one in the second, two in the third, and four in the fourth to build the 8-0 lead. Winning pitcher Riley Garcia struck out five with no hits and no walks to pick up her first win of the year.
