ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – Fueled by five first-half goals from first-year 
Gracie Giannettino, the University of Rochester claimed its first Liberty League win of the season on Friday afternoon. The Yellowjackets posted a 20-8 win over Bard College. The victory evened the overall UR record to 3-3. Rochester is 1-2 in the league. Bard is 2-5 overall, 0-2 in the league. Rochester plays at Vassar on Saturday.
 
Giannettino scored twice in the first period (which ended with Rochester ahead, 6-1), and struck three times in the second period. Rochester led, 12-4 at halftime. 
Zoe Sullivan scored a goal in each of the first two quarters. Six teammates scored one apiece before the half arrived: 
Lucy Haggerty, 
Grace Crochiere, 
Sophia Stafford, 
Regi Merkin, 
Brooke Fiannaca, and 
Anne Traczyk. 
Christiana Ciaccio scored three goals – the third with two seconds left in the match after officials gave a yellow card to Bard. Each team had one MAN UP goal in the last 65 seconds. Bard's Gillian Adkins scored with 1:05 to play.
 
In all, 11 Rochester players scored at least one goal: Giannettino (5-0-5), Ciaccio (3-0-3), 
Zoe Sullivan (2-1-3), Haggerty (2-1-3), Stafford (1-0-1), Crochiere (2-1-3), Merkin (1-2-3), 
Hass Diallo (1-0-1), Fiannaca (1-0-1), Traczek (1-1-2), 
Mia Perkell (1-0-1). Three players had two goals apiece for Bard: Maggy Peyton, Adkins, and Sarah Child.
 
The game was scoreless for more than seven minutes at the start. Rochester's offense began clicking and UR scored five goals in a span of two minutes and four seconds to burst ahead, 5-0. Haggerty had the opener with 7:34 left in the quarter. Rochester broke out of a clear and threw a long pass upfield to Haggerty on the left sideline. She caught the ball, broke into the critical scoring ahead, and fired into the net.
Traczyk had a goal and an assist.
 
Giannettino netted her first of the day 48 seconds later. She was followed by Merkin (assisted by Haggerty), Giannettino, and Sullivan. It was 6-1 heading into the second period.
 
Overall, Rochester had a 35-15 advantage in shots (30-14 in shots on goal). UR caused 12 Turnovers (three by 
Erin Esposito and three by Crochiere). Bard had six caused turnovers. The draw controls were relatively even (16-14 UR – Crochiere won four, Sullivan won three) as were the ground balls (17-15 UR) and the clearing stats (15-19 Rochester, 11-13 Bard).
 
Ava Saffren started in goal for Rochester. She departed with 7:37 left in the third quarter. In 37:23, she made five saves and allowed five goals. 
Mia Perkell played the last 22:37 with one save and three goals allowed. For Bard, Roxanne Rouskas played 57:32 (19 GA, 10 saves). Martha Pasatiempo played briefly at the start of the fourth quarter (2:28, 1 GA).
