ROCHESTER, NY. – Rochester assembled 23 hits and 19 runs in posting a softball sweep of Medaille College on Saturday afternoon at Southside Field. The Yellowjackets rallied to win game one, 9-5, then burst into an early lead in game two, finishing with a 10-1 win.

The two victories give UR a four-game winning streak in a span of five days UR defeated St. John Fisher on Tuesday afternoon. Rochester is 6-12 overall. Medaille is 11-5 overall.

Game One:
Rochester 9, Medaille 5:
The Yellowjackets produced four runs on five hits in the fourth inning to move ahead. UR scored two more in the fifth and another two in the sixth – on a
Hannah Keiper home run – to nail down the victory.

Lauren Keys threw five-hit ball over five innings to get the win. She gave up two earned runs, walked two, and struck out six. She came on in the top of the third after Medaille  hit a solo home run (by Gabrielle Presutti) to stretch its lead to 3-1. She allowed asingle to Lylie Lyons, then retired seven straight..In the fifth Presutti and Lyons hit back to back singles with one down (and UR ahead, 5-3). She got a groundout to third, then struck out Shay Sommer to end the inning.
Gorecki had four RBIs in game two.

Rochester took a 1-0 lead in the first.
Bailey Nicholoff's fly ball was dropped in the first inning resulting in a three-base error. She scored on Keiper's single to left. UR loaded the bases on Kaitlyn Alguire after that, but couldn't push any more runs across. Sommer singled to lead off the Maverick second and Brenna Fenstermaker homered over the left field fence to put the guests up, 2-1. Presutti's home run off
Emily Sharlach forced the pitching change.

The Yellowjackets staged a two-out rally in the fourth to go ahead for good.
Loren Castilloux doubled to right center.
Alexis Klee reached on an infield single with Castilloux holding firm at second base.
Ally Kim singled down the left field line and took second on a throw to third (where Klee was save). Castilloux scored. Nicholoff tripled to right for two runs. She scored when pinchrunner
Savannah Nowak got caught in a rundown.

In the fifth, Castilloux tripled to right center scoring two more runs for a 7-3 lead. Medaille scored twice in the sixth (7-5). Presutti hit a two-run single to left with the bases loaded and two down. Keys retired Lyons on a groundout, then set down the Mavericks in order in the ninth, two by strikeout.

Game Two:
Rochester 10, Medaille 1 (5 inns.): The Yellowjackets didn't waste any time. They sent 11 hitters to the plate in the second inning and scored seven runs on six hits and two hit batsmen.

Hunter Gilbreath singled in a run.
Kristen Myers doubled one home as did
Ally Kim. Nicholoff's single to left made it 5-1.
Jenna Gorecki doubled home two more. She finished the game with three hits, four RBIs (a two-run home run in the fourth), and one run scored.

Kim was 3-3 with two RBIs and one run scored. She stole three bases in game two and one in game one. Gilbreath had two hits in the nitecap.

The win went to
Bryce West (who was the DP for game one). In three innings, she allowed two hits, one earned run, walked two, and struck out one.
Abbie Biggs pitched the last two innings, giving up a walk and a single.
