Yellowjackets Defeat Hartwick with Dominant Second Quarter

ONEONTA, NY - Behind Abby Gress's 18-point performance, the University of Rochester Yellowjackets defeated the Hartwick Hawks by a score of 75-48, in their second game of the Oneonta & Hartwick Classic hosted by Hartwick College.

Abby Gress followed up her outstanding performance against Oneonta with another great performance with 18 points in 18 minutes to go along with four rebounds and four assists, shooting 72 percent from the field.

For her efforts over the two games, Gress, along with Bridge Miller, were named to the Oneonta & Hartwick Classic's All-Tournament Team.

Gress opened with a hot start scoring Rochester's first four baskets, giving UR an early advantage. Hartwick matched the UR offense hitting four three-pointers to end the first quarter with a three-point game.

At the start of the second quarter, Rochester got out on a 20-0 run that the Hawks were unable to come back from. This run consisted of five different scorers for the 'Jackets shooting 7-for-12 from the field.

UR's defense held the Hawks to shoot zero percent from the field in the second quarter contributing to the 20-0 run.

Rochester kept their foot on the gas pedal coming out of halftime with jumpers from Bridget Miller and Rylee Drahos pushing the lead above 20. Franki Gomez contributed two assists in the third, facilitating the offense for the 'Jackets.

Tia Poulakidas chipped in a pair of baskets in the third, to complete her eight-point, five-rebound performance.
