Men’s Basketball in Win Column with Victory Over Muhlenberg

Louis Alexander Palestra – Rochester men's basketball got back in the win column with their 82-64 victory over Muhlenberg in the consolation game of the Chuck Resler Tournament.
 
The Yellowjackets were led in scoring by junior guard Corvin Oprea, who contributed 14 points along with three boards and two steals while shooting 5-12 from the field.
 
Nate Sock and Logan Jagodzinski both put in 13 points apiece to help push UR to victory.
 
Jagodzinski started the game off with a quick three-pointer off a David Ackles assist. Both teams began trading baskets until Corvin Oprea hit a 3-pointer just under the 18-minute mark to tie it up 8-8.
 
Muhlenberg hung around for a bit, with a couple of jumpers falling, which pushed the score to 17-17 at the 13-minute mark.
 
Beginning with a Theo Murray tip-in to give UR the 19-17 lead, the 'Jackets went on a 29-8 run featuring seven different scorers and four made three-pointers.
 
Rochester also showcased stellar defense during this run, holding Muhlenberg to three made field goals and forcing seven turnovers.
 
UR went into the half with a 21-point lead and never looked back.
 
Coming out of halftime, Rochester's offensive explosion continued getting up to a 31-point lead which was the largest lead of the game.
 
A couple of reserves made an impact in the second half with Bennett Kwiecinski hitting a pair of jumpers and Camden Fleming adding a three-ball.                                           
 
Rochester received contributions from 14 different scorers while managing to shoot 45.9% from the field and 35.5% from behind the three-point line. UR also outrebounded their opponents today 44-42.
 
Rochester men's basketball continues the 2024 season with a rivalry matchup at the Louis Alexander Palestra against the Rochester Institute of Technology on November 12 at 7:00 pm.
