Atlanta, GA – The University of Rochester Yellowjackets finished in a 1-1 tie with Emory University to close the regular season. Rochester ended regular season play with an 11-3-3 overall record and a 4-2-1 UAA record.
There was a lot of action early, with Emory converting its first shot into a goal when Kaitlyn Nimmer received a slip pass from midfield and took a left-footed shot to give Emory an early lead.
UR answered back quickly when
Natalie Santangelo gained possession in the corner and nutmegged her first defender, exploded towards the goal, and curved a right-footed shot into the back post from the right end line.
Grace Kuropatkin finished the match with 11 saves highlighted by a save in the 20
th minute of the first half when Emory had a pass directly into the box followed by a point-blank shot by Mikayla Camp which was saved by Kuropatkin.
Rochester's only other shot attempt of the half was taken by
Claudia Ferreira but this missed high.
Despite the 1-1 score, Emory lead in the shots department 11-2 in the first 45 minutes of play.
Just like the 1st half, Emory started fast taking a shot attempt 14 seconds into the 2nd half.
The 'Jackets and Eagles traded possessions in the 2
nd half, with Rochester getting shots from
Maya Bravo and
Natalie Santangelo that were both blocked.
In the 69
th minute,
Claire Grover had a chance off a cross from the wing in front of the goal that was missed just to the left of the goal.
Eileen Harvey followed that up with a shot of her own that was blocked.
Overall, Emory led in shots 20-6 with 12 shots on goal compared to UR's one.
Rochester will now await the selection process for the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament.
