ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, FL – The University of Rochester women's tennis team fell to the 46th-ranked and No. 7-seeded New York University Violets, 5-0, in the 2024 UAA Tennis Championships seventh-place match on Sunday morning at Sanlando Park.
The Violets swept the 'Jackets in doubles action, picking up their first point in the second doubles match. NYU's Jimena Menendez and Aditi Narayan downed
Neha Dania and
Sahithi Mathukumilli, 8-2, while Isabella Hartman and Dakota Fordham, the 24th-ranked doubles tandem in NCAA Division III, topped
Josephine Libby and
Sanjana Karnam, 8-2, at No. 1 doubles.
Then at No. 3 doubles, NYU made it 3-0, as Tess Heber and Hannah Chang defeated
Jasmin Toor and
Jaclyn Dron, 8-4.
In singles action,
Josephine Libby bounced back from an opening-set defeat at the hands of Menendez, the 16th-ranked singles player in DIII, to go up 3-2 in the second set, but the Violets would finish off the match with wins at No. 3 and 6 singles.
Hartman defeated Karnam at three singles, 6-1, 6-1, putting NYU up 4-0, before Kendall Kamerschen clinched the 7th-place finish for the Violets with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Mathukumilli at No. 6 singles.
With the win, No. 46 NYU moves to 6-5 on the year, while the Yellowjackets wrap up the regular season at 5-14 overall.
