ABCA, D3baseball.com Award UR Five All-Region Accolades

Three members of the University of Rochester baseball program combined for five All-Region 3 honors from the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and D3baseball.com, as announced by the ABCA and D3baseball.com on Tuesday.
 
Senior pitcher/designated hitter Colby Cruser earned Second-Team All-Region honors from both the ABCA/Rawlings and D3baseball.com, senior infielder Alexander Gonzalo received D3baseball.com Second-Team All-Region accolades and graduate outfielder Josh Leadem was named a Third-Team selection by both organizations.
 
For both Gonzalo and Leadem, its their first career All-Region selection, while Cruser notches his third, having been named the D3baseball.com Region III Rookie of the Year and a Second-Team selection back in 2022.
 
Cruser, the 2025 Liberty League Co-Player of the Year, contributed at the plate and on the mound for the Yellowjackets, slashing .385/.435/.558 with 40 hits, nine doubles, three home runs, 19 runs scored and 19 RBI, while going 2-0 with a 2.70 ERA and 0.90 WHIP in 20.0 innings pitched on the mound. At the plate, Cruser walked eight times, drew a pair of hit-by-pitches and struck out just seven times, while as a pitcher, the senior struck out 27 and walked just six, holding opponents to a .171 opponent batting average.
 
The Littleton, CO native had 12 multi-hit games, including a four-hit game vs. Ithaca on April 18, and four multi-RBI performances, and reached base in each of UR's last seven contests, as well as a 12-game on-base streak midway through the year. Cruser shut out his opponent in eight of his 10 relief appearances, and graduates ranked second in program history in strikeouts per nine (11.38) and ninth both career batting average (.366) and lowest opponent batting average (.233).
 
A Second-Team All-Liberty League selection, Gonzalo put together a stellar senior campaign for the 'Jackets, batting .347 (42-for-121) with nine doubles, five home runs, 31 runs scored and a team-high 35 RBI. One of UR's most potent bats at the plate, Gonzalo drew 18 walks and nine hit-by-pitches, had a .451 on-base percentage and a .545 slugging percentage.
 
The senior started all 33 games for the Yellowjackets, and had 12 multi-hit games and a team-high eight multi-RBI performances, including a five-RBI game at Scranton on March 11. Gonzalo blasted a pair of home runs in that contest, one of two, two-home run games for the Park Ridge, IL native, while the senior also tallied 12 total bases in a win over St. Lawrence on April 12, tied for the third-most in a single game in program history.
 
Leadem led the Yellowjackets at the plate and ranked 15th in the region with his .392 batting average, going 49-for-125 with four doubles, two triples, three home runs, 35 runs scored and 24 RBI across 33 games played. Leadem started every game for the Yellowjackets this season, quickly becoming UR's starting centerfielder and committing just one error in 84 chances. The graduate student was also a menace on the basepaths, stealing 28 bases to become UR's all-time leader with 116 career steals, while his 28 steals this season ranked sixth in the region.
 
The Barrington, RI native also contributed on the mound, with a 4.50 ERA and 1.40 WHIP in four appearances, notching two saves in four innings pitched. Leadem graduates with his name etched all across UR's record book as the all-time leader in games played (176), hit-by-pitches (55) and stolen bases, as well as ranked second in at-bats (638), runs scored (164) and hits (212), tied for third in doubles (39), fourth in total bases (309) and fifth in home runs (16). The graduate student tied for a team-high 16 multi-hit games this season, and had six multi-RBI performances, while reaching base in each of UR's final 15 contests.
