The University of Rochester men's and women's soccer programs were both recognized for their academic efforts in the classroom this past year, earning the 2024-25 United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award, as announced by the United Soccer Coaches on Friday.
Â
To qualify for the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award, teams must have a GPA of at least 3.0 during the 2024-25 academic year.
Â
In their third year under Head Coach
Ashley Van Vechten, the Yellowjacket women posted a 3.74 Team GPA, while the men tallied a 3.56 Team GPA in
Ben Cross' first season at the helm.
Â
A total of 741 soccer teams (303 men, 438 women) posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher, thereby earning the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award for the 2024-25 academic year. Of that total, 168 schools, including UR, had both their men's and women's programs recognized.
Â
Both programs have also received the United Soccer Coaches' Team Academic Award for multiple years running, with men's soccer earning the honor for the 24th-straight year, while the women earned recognition for the 23rd-consecutive season.
Â
United Soccer Coaches annually celebrates the academic achievements of teams whose student-athletes collectively demonstrate a commitment to excellence in their studies over a full academic year.
