University of Rochester women's volleyball made quick work of the Nazareth University Golden Flyers, downing their crosstown foe in straight sets on Tuesday evening inside the Louis Alexander Palestra.

The Yellowjackets held Nazareth to just a .066 hitting percentage throughout the contest, while the 'Jackets themselves hit .232 with 39 kills.

Rochester opened the first set with three-straight points, will
Claire Feczko's kill from
McKenzie McDonald getting UR on the board, while McDonald's ace gave the 'Jackets a 2-0 lead.

Nazareth quickly answered back with a pair of aces from Leah Fusilli, as the first set proved to be the closest of the three.
Sancia Williams' first of a career-high 11 kills knotted the score at 4-4, as the Yellowjackets surged ahead with a 6-1 run, taking advantage of a trio of errors by the visitors, as well as kills from
Rylee Bergeron and
Paige Stephenson.

The 'Jackets led by as many as four, 12-8, before stretching their lead out to five on McDonald's serve, as another Williams kill and a ball-handling error extended UR's lead to five. Nazareth would keep things close, cutting the deficit twice to three, before a pair of Bergeron kills made it a 20-14 Rochester advantage.

After trading service errors, URochester led 21-16, while kills from Feczko and
Isis Pribble finished off the set, 25-17, in favor of the 'Jackets.

UR and Nazareth traded 3-0 spurts to begin the second set, with the Yellowjackets opening a 3-1 lead, before the Golden Flyers made it 4-3. Rochester answered right back with four in a row, three coming on
Ellen Porter's serve, and led by as many as four in the early going.

Nazareth would cut Rochester's lead to just two, 11-9, before the Yellowjackets got on a roll, rallying for the next 10 points. UR scored three straight, highlighted by a solo block from Williams, to force the Golden Flyers to take a timeout, and then scored the next seven points out of the timeout to extend their lead to 21-9.

The Golden Flyers were unable to break McDonald's serve, as Williams notched another two blocks, combining with Porter on one, while Feczko tallied four kills over the run, and Porter added a pair.

Down 21-9, Nazareth scored the next four points to force Rochester to take a timeout, with the deficit cut down to eight. However, Bergeron and
Maren Smith quickly made it 23-13 with the next two points, while another Bergeron kill brought up set point.

A service error would give Rochester the set, 25-15, and a 2-0 match lead, with the 'Jackets having held Nazareth to a .000 hitting percentage in the second set.

The Yellowjackets picked up right where they left off to start the third, tallying five of the first six points of the set, capping off a 4-0 run with an ace from
Katie Westerheim.

Looking to avoid the sweep, though, the Golden Flyers answered back, pulling within one on a block from Madeline Saunders and Lorianna Mattutat, while kills from Fusilli and Alana Lucey kept things close.

Fusilli's kill knotted the score at eight-all and led to a Rochester timeout, but the 'Jackets would come out of the timeout with a fury, scoring five of the next six points. Williams sent over a pair of kills, while
Lilly Kraemer added another, as Rochester extended its lead to four, and then made it a five-point, 16-11 lead following two more kills, forcing Nazareth to take a timeout.

Westerheim added another ace to make it 17-11 out of the timeout, while two more kills from Williams, as well as another from Bergeron, coming on Porter's serve, extended the 'Jackets' advantage to eight.

Up 21-13, Nazareth scored three of the next four to pull within six, before UR finished off the set and match with the final three points of the night. Pribble tallied another kill before a Nazareth attack error made it match point, and
Iliana Balaskas finished off the match with a kill, giving UR the 25-16 set-three win, and 3-0 match victory.

With the win, Rochester moves to 2-8 on the season, while Nazareth remains winless at 0-7 on the year.

Individually, Williams tallied a game-high 11 kills, while Bergeron added nine and a game-high 13 digs. McDonald led URochester with 23 assists, while both Porter and Westerheim tallied three service aces.

Porter also contributed to one of UR's three blocks, with Williams adding a solo block and two block assists.

Rochester next travels to Morrisville, NY, for a non-conference clash against SUNY Morrisville on Wednesday, Sept. 24 at 7:00 p.m.
