University of Rochester track & field first-years: Barack Abdallah and Lauren Murphy both earned Liberty League Track & Field Rookie of the Week honors for their efforts at this past week's RIT January Invite, as announced by the conference on Monday.

Abdallah had a win and a runner-up finish for the University of Rochester at the RIT January Invitational on Friday. The first-year placed first in the 4x200 meter relay, helping UR's squad run a time of 1:31.77, qualifying for the All-Atlantic Region Indoor Championship (AARTFC) meet later this season. Abdallah also added a runner-up finish in the 60-meter dash, running a time of 6.99 seconds in the final to also hit the standard for the regional meet.

Murphy had two top-3 results for the Yellowjackets, competing in both the long and triple jump at RIT. The rookie finished first in the triple jump for the second straight meet to start her career, posting a distance of 11.82 meters. Murphy also added a third-place jump in the long jump, leaping 5.53 meters, currently ranking #25 on the NCAA Division III performance list. Both marks were AARTFC qualifying performances.
