PRINCE ATHLETIC COMPLEX – The visiting Hamilton College men's soccer team posted a shutout win over the University of Rochester, winning 3-0 on Tuesday evening at Edwin Fauver Stadium.
Hamilton's Troy Miller had a hand in all three Continental goals, scoring twice and earning an assist on the other score, that by Brady Hyland.
Rochester falls to 4-5-4 on the season, while Hamilton improves to 4-4-4 in 2026. The Yellowjackets completed their non-conference schedule with the Tuesday affair.
UR's
Aidan Hartman was tested in the goal early on by Hamilton's attack. Miller had the first shot on goal in the fifth minute, while Sean Curran forced Hartman to make another save in the ninth minute.
A transition opportunity by the Yellowjackets led to the first shot attempt for the home game, but a 25-yard skidding shot by
Milos Bisenic was corralled just wide of the post by keeper Finn Wheeler.
Later in the half, the Continentals earned three corners in a row and earned a terrific chance on the third set piece, with a header by Miller being saved off the line by defender
Kyle Wong.
Shortly after, UR's
Tomoki Hirayama fired a hard shot from the edge of the box along the right wing, but Wheeler had a clean look and made the save.
In the 39th minute, Hamilton broke through with a goal from Miller, capitalizing on a turnover deep in URochester territory. After a back pass, pressure on Hartman forced a rushed pass that was intercepted by Miller. The goal scorer would then dribble into space and fire a left-footed shot into the low right corner of the net.
Ten minutes into the second half, a long cross from Bisenic set up
Finn Basobas O'Carroll for a header at the right post, but the UR rookie couldn't beat Wheeler with his shot.
Hamilton's lead doubled in the 64th minute when after a short throw in along the right sideline, Miller sent a long, looping cross towards Hyland at the far post. Hyland jumped and got good pace on a header and beat Hartman to his right for his first goal of the season.
The Continentals added a third goal five minutes later, with Miller converting a penalty kick after he was taken out on a trip in the box.
Rochester's
Will Fallona had a hard shot from 25 yards in the center of the field in the 77th minute, but his shot trickled just wide right of the Hamilton net.
In the final seven minutes, the 'Jackets got three more shots off, looking to break through, but attempts by
Johnny Makula,
David Garcia and Bisenic all ended up missing the goal.
Statistically, Hamilton finished with a 15-9 lead in shots and 5-2 edge in corners. Hartman finished with five saves for the Yellowjackets, while Wheeler pitched the shutout with four stops.
Rochester is back in action on Saturday with a UAA conference matchup at Brandeis University.
