URochester Rolls Past Bard for Second Liberty League Win

ANNADALE-ON-HUDSON, NY – University of Rochester women's lacrosse earned its second Liberty League win, defeating the Bard College Raptors, 20-3, on Friday evening at the Ferrari Soccer & Lacrosse Complex.

URochester set or tied a pair of single-game program records in the win, tallying the most shots in a single game in program history, 56, and tying for the most caused turnovers, 25, in a single contest in program history.

Additionally, the 'Jackets' 16 assists are the second-most in a single contest in program history, while their 36 total point tied for third and their 47 ground balls tied for fourth.

Alyssa Gorny got the Yellowjackets on the scoreboard just over 30 seconds into the contest, scoring off Allison Weiden's assist to give Rochester a 1-0 lead with 14:27 left in the first. Two more goals by Rose Bunting off a free-position attempt and Anna Rogers off another Weiden assist made it 3-0 less than four minutes into the game, as the Yellowjackets scored 10 goals before the Raptors got on the scoreboard.

Gorny added another off Sam Kinch's assist just shy of the eight-minute mark, while goals by Bunting and Weiden stretched Rochester's lead to six with 6:11 left in the first. Gorny then added another off Lorelei King's assist before Ella Lassen got on the scoreboard with her first of three goals, giving Rochester an 8-0 lead after one.

May Parzych and Jenna Kessler helped extend the lead to 10 with goals at the 13:38 and 12:09 marks of the first, before Bard got on the board just past the nine-minute mark of the second, taking advantage of a player-up opportunity to find the back of the net.

Rochester quickly responded, though, with another tally from Parzych, this one off Tessa Little's assist, and added two more goals, one by Zoey Miller and the other by Kassi Boehl, to take a 13-1 lead at the halftime break.

From there, the Yellowjackets would cruise to victory, adding three more goals in the third and four in the fourth quarter to wrap up the 20-3 win.

Kessler, Little and Lassen all scored for URochester in the third, while Kessler, Lassen and Miller all found the back of the net in the fourth, before Heidi Donovan capped off the victory with Rochester's 20th goal off Lassen's assist.

With the win, the Yellowjackets move to 4-2 (2-0 LL) on the year, while the Raptors fall to 1-4 (0-1 LL).

Offensively, Parzych led the 'Jackets with five points, tallying two goals and three assists, while Gorny, Kessler and Lassen each notched three scores. Lassen also had a team-high nine shots and four draw controls.

Defensively, Donovan caused a team-high three turnovers, with eight different 'Jackets causing a pair. King and Little each picked up a team-high seven ground balls, while Isla Ablin, Madeline Merriman and Nikki Cassara all saw time in net, combining for two saves.

The Yellowjackets will look for their third-straight Liberty League win when they wrap up their weekend road trip in Poughkeepsie, NY, on Saturday, March 21, with a matchup at Vassar College, beginning at 2:00 p.m.
