UR Earns Two Wins, But Drops Final Match to Brandeis at UAA’s

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, FL – The University of Rochester women's tennis team closed out its 2025-26 season on Sunday morning, falling 4-2 to Brandeis University in the 7th place match of the UAA Championship at Sanlando Park.
 
URochester (8-12) got a pair of singles wins from first-year Hailey Kornbluth and senior Neha Dania for the two points, the 'Jackets first two of the weekend tournament. Brandeis' win pushes the Judges, ranked 37th in the latest Division III poll, record to 11-9.
 
To start things, Brandeis earned two wins in doubles to secure the early 1-0 lead. At three, Chahana Budhbhatti and Avani Chitale won 6-1 over Lilly Caldwell and Esther Wang for the first victory. The nationally-ranked #7 team in Division III, Mandy Reyes and Rebecca Suarez then followed suit, wining 6-2 over Jasmin Toor and Sanjana Karnam, securing the Judges doubles team win.
 
In singles, the Yellowjackets got the first point from Konbluth at number two against Budhbhatti. The 'Jacket first-year won 6-4 in the opening set and then was tied 2-2 in the second when her Brandeis opponent retired from the match.
 
The Judges responded with a win at fifth singles from Milana Sofizade against Lauren Kallas. Brandeis ended up jumping ahead 2-1 in the overall match following the 6-2, 6-2 win.
 
Rochester's Dania leveled the match back up though, posting a straight-set win, 6-3, 6-2 at sixth singles against Galia Harmelin.
 
Brandeis fended off the Yellowjackets the rest of the way though, scoring wins at three and four to clinch the overall match.
 
At three, Chitale won 6-1, 6-4 over Toor, with the fourth singles match, providing the final point. Nancy Zhang ended up winning 7-5, 6-1 over Karnam to move the final score to 4-2 in favor of the Judges.
