University of Rochester football senior
Jackson Kane has been named the 2026 Peter DiPasquale Male Scholar-Athlete Award winner, as announced at the University of Rochester Department of Athletics and Recreation Awards Dinner earlier this week.

A four-year starter and two-year captain, Kane was a three-time All-Liberty League selection on the gridiron, twice earning Second-Team honors in 2023 and 2024. Overall, Kane played in 36 games over his four-year career, making 72 receptions for 837 yards and seven touchdowns, while adding one rush for 20 yards and five tackles on special teams.

This season for the Yellowjackets, Kane appeared in and started all 10 games, catching a career-high 27 passes for 314 yards, while also contributing as a run blocker for URochester. Kane's best performance of the season came against Union on Senior Day, as the Boring, OR native caught nine passes for a career-high 116 yards.

Off the field, Kane was named one of 10 Lysle 'Spike' Garnish Scholar-Athletes this past fall and is a three-time Liberty League All-Academic honoree and a two-time College Sports Communicators Academic All-District selection. A double major in economics and psychology, Kane has also earned Dean's List honors every semester, was named a Provost Circle Scholar, and was elected Phi Beta Kappa this spring.

On campus, Kane is involved in Rochester's VSAAC and has also served as a research assistant in both political science and economics, as well as a research ambassador in the Office of Undergraduate Research. Off campus, Kane has presented at multiple national symposiums and worked as an Economics Research Intern at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas last summer.

Inaugurated in 1995, the Peter DiPasquale Award is presented annually to a male member of the senior class who has shown excellence in the classroom and serves as a role model for their fellow students.

Peter DiPasquale was a three-year letterman for the football team, serving as captain and earning team MVP his senior year. He was a member of the sophomore and junior honor societies, Tau Beta Pi for engineering, and president of the senior class. After graduation in 1952, he held leadership roles in Rochester Area alumni recruiting and fund drives. In 1997, he received the Lysle "Spike" Garnish Citation from the Department of Athletics and Recreation, and in 1999, he was inducted into the University's Athletic Hall of Fame.
