For the first time in the three-year history of the award, the University of Rochester women's soccer team received the Peyton Family Team Academic Award, as announced at the University of Rochester Department of Athletics and Recreation Awards Banquet on Monday, May 4.
 
The award is given to the varsity athletic team with the highest cumulative grade point average through the 2025 Fall semester.
 
In a competitive race with several other varsity teams, women's soccer earned the award with an average team cumulative GPA of 3.736, snapping the two-year run by the women's cross country team.
 
12 individuals on the UR women's soccer team have cumulative GPAs above 3.9, including four with GPAs perfect. Every single member of the program has a GPA above 3.4.
 
The Peyton Family Team Academic Award, inaugurated in 2024, was made possible by the generous support of former varsity athletes Kenny Peyton, class of 1990, Deborah Gofas, class of 1991, Julie Peyton, class of 1991, and Alison Peyton, class of 2022. It honors their commitment to academic & athletic excellence at the University.
