ROCHESTER, NY – The University of Rochester women's cross country team earned a fourth-place result out of 16 competing teams at the UR Yellowjacket Invitational on Saturday at Genesee Valley Park.
Ella Blau was the 'Jackets' top finisher, running to a 14th-place finish with a time of 22:52.9. Next up was
Sam Mermelstein in 23rd place, clocking in with a time of 23:30.0.
Gypsy Wish made it three Yellowjackets in the top 45 with a 44th-place finish in 24:04.9, while
Emily Dill (48th, 24:09.8) and
Olivia Nibot (49th, 24:11.1) rounded out Rochester's top-five runners.
Katie Punch and
Adriana Ochoa were the Yellowjackets' displacers, with Punch finishing 50th in 24:11.8 and Ochoa 52nd in 24:14.8.
Four more Yellowjackets finished in the top 75 of the 212-runner field, led by
Maya Kumar's 53rd-place finish and 24:15.3 time.
Maddy Mariani placed 59th with a time of 24:26.3;
Maria Khalifeh came in 64th, clocking in at 24:31.3, and
Juliana Raigosa finished 68th in 24:40.9.
As a team, the Yellowjackets finished fifth with 149 points, right behind SUNY Cortland, who also tallied 149 points. SUNY Geneseo took the top spot with 42 points, with Colgate (51 points) and Oneonta State (127 points) rounding out the top-three team finishers.
Individually, RIT's Kathryn Arbegast claimed first place, crossing the finish line in 21:53.5.
Rochester is back in action next Saturday, Sept. 26, competing at Roberts Wesleyan University's Harry Anderson Invitational in Chili, NY, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
