GENESEO, NY – The University of Rochester field hockey team extended its winning streak to three straight with a 1-0 shutout victory over host SUNY Geneseo on Wednesday evening at Geneseo's College Stadium.
Rochester win pushes the Yellowjackets record to 6-1 on the season, while Geneseo drops its third game in the last four, falling to 4-3 so far in 2026.
Junior
Hannah Mehta scored the lone goal of the contest shortly after halftime. Mehta's goal is her team-leading fifth of the year and came off a pass from teammate
Grayson Honig.
On the score, Honig dribbled into the corner of the circle and was near the endline before sending a bouncing ball towards the front of the net. Mehta was waiting in front and swatted her shot out of mid-air on the bounce, beating the Geneseo keeper on her right side.
Shortly after the Yellowjackets took the lead, Geneseo looked to answer back, earning a penalty stroke attempt after a foul occurred on a breakaway near the UR goal.

Katherine Jensen came up huge, guessing the right direction on Ella Greico's shot and made the blocker save to keep the Yellowjackets in front.
Six minutes later, Jensen made another one of her four saves, denying Halle Senfield. As the final seconds ticked away in the third, the senior goalie earned another save, stopping an Olivia Bottoni attempt.
In the fourth, Geneseo's Ava Harman took the lone shot of the period by either team, coming in the 47th minute, but Jensen stook tall once again and kept the Knights off the board, preserving the win.
The low-scoring affair saw both teams combine for just 17 shot attempts, seven of which ended on frame. UR led 10-7 in shots, with Geneseo posting a 4-3 lead in shots on goal. Rochester dominated in penalty corners, taking 11 of the 13 in the contest.
Individually, Honig led all players with four shot attempts. Mehta and
Sophia Cuneo each had two for the Yellowjackets.
Jensen finished with four saves, while Bridget Schafer in the Geneseo goal was credited with two stops.
Up next, Rochester takes on 3rd-ranked Tufts University in a 10 am matchup at home on Saturday.
