Gibson spent a season with the Yellowjackets as a volunteer assistant coach in 2023-24 before being promoted to a full-time assistant for the 2024-25 season.

A 2021 graduate of Alfred State College, Gibson began his collegiate coaching career at his alma mater, spending two seasons as an assistant coach with the Pioneers. Over his two seasons with the Steamers, Hornell twice posted 24-win seasons and reached the playoffs, finishing third overall in 2022, while in 2023 with the Dutchmen, Gibson helped Albany to its first postseason appearance in four years.

Gibson also served as the Head of Player Development at the Next Pro Training facility in Rochester, NY, helping train some of the best baseball players in the area.

Over five seasons with the Pioneers as an undergrad, Gibson appeared in 130 games, making 121 starts, tallying 65 hits, four doubles, 60 runs scored, 28 stolen bases and 46 RBI.
