Katie Flaschner begins her second season on the coaching staff at University of Rochester as assistant field hockey coach for the 2016 season.
Flaschner, a 2013 graduate of the University, spent last season as UR's first assistant and helped guide the Yellowjackets to an 18-6 record and a spot in the NCAA Division III Tournament, reaching the national quarterfinals. Â Prior to returning to UR, Flaschner spent one season as assistant coach at Tufts University where she helped guide the Jumbos to a 12-5 record and spot in the NESCAC semi-finals.
While at Rochester, Flaschner was a 3rd Team NFHCA All-American in 2012, a two-time 1st Team All-Liberty League and two-time 1st Team All-Region selection. Â She finished her career with 26 goals and 13 assists (65 points) which ranks 12th all-time at UR. Â The two-time team captain earned the UR Athletic Department's Merle Spurrier Award as a senior after earning the Sylvia Fabricant Award as a junior.
Flaschner ranks 1st all-time at Rochester in games played with 82 and is second in career minutes played. Â She helped the Yellowjackets earn their first ever NCAA Division III Tournament berth in 2012, eventually reaching the Elite 8 after upset victories over 12th-ranked Rowan University and 4th-ranked Salisbury University.
