Vaughn Nichols-Taylor

Vaughn Nichols-Taylor joins the Rochester football coaching staff for the 2022 season.

He brings with him several years of college coaching experience in the sport, most recently serving as defensive backs coach at his alma mater, Widener University from 2016 to 2018. While at Widener, Nichols-Taylor was key in the development of Jordan Powell, a two-time 1st Team AFCA All-American for the Pride.

He also helped coach five individuals to All-League accolades in his three seasons. Overall, the Pride were 2nd in Division III in fewest passing yards allowed in 2018 and 40th in passing defense efficiency. Widener also led the MAC in back-to-back seasons in total passing defense.

Since 2018, Nichols-Taylor has been employed with Just Work 7-on-7 Football, serving as a mentor to youth athletes on high school sports teams. He coached defensive backs and assisted as Defensive Coordinator during his time there.

He was a four-year player with the Pride from 2012 to 2015. In his 34 games played, he tallied 107 total tackles, 69 of which were solo stops. He added 7.5 tackles for loss, 12 passes defended and 1 fumble recovery. He helped Widener to Middle Atlantic Conference titles in 2012 and 2014, reaching the NCAA Division III playoffs each time.

Nichols-Taylor graduated from Widener in 2015 with a Bachelor's degree in Management.
