Tobia enters his first season as an assistant coach with the University of Rochester football program in 2026, serving as the running backs coach. Tobia joins the Yellowjackets following two seasons at St. John Fisher University.
 
Over his two seasons in Pittsford, NY, with the Cardinals, Tobia coached the running backs in 2024 and the tight ends in 2025

Tobia came to Fisher from Catholic University in Washington, DC, where he worked with inside receivers in 2023 after spending two seasons coaching tight ends. 
 
Prior to his time in DC, Tobia spent one season at Erie Community College as the tight ends coach, transitioning to coach offensive line and serving as the run game coordinator prior to the COVID-19 pandemic.
 
Tobia’s first collegiate role came as a graduate intern at Vanderbilt University, spending two seasons with the Commodores. During his time at the SEC school, he worked as a video assistant, assisting the coaching staff in video production and editing film for practice and film sessions.

Tobia began his coaching career in 2016 at Newton High School in Covington, GA, serving as the varsity offensive line coach and the JV offensive coordinator.
 
Collegiately, Tobia played at Erie Community College and Edinboro University before transferring to Canisius to finish his degree.
 
Tobia earned his associate’s degree from Erie Community College in 2009, and his bachelor’s degree in health and physical education with a minor in sports studies from Canisius University in 2014. Tobia earned his master’s degree in special education with a focus on high-incidence disabilities from Vanderbilt University in 2018.

Originally from Buffalo, Tobia resides in Penfield, NY with his wife, Amanda and daughter, Violet.
