Jacob Wittig joins the University of Rochester men's basketball coaching staff for the 2019-20 season after a stellar four-year playing career with the Yellowjackets.
Wittig was a four-year starter under head coach Luke Flockerzi on the Yellowjackets, starting over 100 career games. He earned three All-UAA honors during his time on the court, including 1st Team accolades as a senior in 2018-19. Wittig averaged just under 10 points per game during his career (9.7 ppg), also finishing with 4.4 assists per game and 3.2 rebounds per game in 104 career games.
He ranks inside the top-10 all-time in Rochester men's basketball history in games started (4th), assists (5th), assists per game (6th), steals (9th) and minutes played (10th).
Off the court, Wittig was a 3-time UAA All-Academic selection, 2-time CoSIDA Academic All-District honor and was chosen to the NABC Honors Court and UAA President's Scholar-Athlete Team in his senior season. Wittig also was named the UR Athletic Department's John Vitone Sportsmanship Award winner in 2018.
Wittig graduated from the University of Rochester in May of 2019 with a Bachelor's degree in Business. He is a second generation UR graduate, as his dad Jeff Wittig '86, also attended Rochester and was a member of the UR football and baseball programs. Jeff was an football All-American in 1985 and was a two-time baseball team MVP.
