Tim McLaughlin joined the University of Rochester men’s basketball coaching staff for a one year stint in the 2015-16 season.
He helped the Yellowjacket men to a 17-8 record overall and post 10 wins and a runner-up finish in the UAA conference standings. He also helped coach three All-UAA honorees in Sam Borst-Smith, Jared Seltzer and Mack Montague.
McLaughlin came to the River Campus after being an assistant coach the previous two seasons at Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT. Prior to that, McLaughlin worked as an assistant coach at the Wentworth Institute of Technology in 2011-13 and as the Men’s Basketball Team Manager for Boston College from 2008-11.
During his time at Wesleyan, McLaughlin’s teams compiled a 30-22 (.577) record. In 2014-15, he was instrumental in helping the Cardinals capture their first ever NESCAC Championship and NCAA Division III Men’s Basketball Tournament berth in the program’s 114-year history. His job duties at Wesleyan included year-round recruiting efforts, advanced scouting of opponents and creation of strength and conditioning workouts for student athletes. McLaughlin was also active in maintaining the Cardinals’ Men’s Basketball social media accounts on Twitter and YouTube.
While on the sidelines for Wentworth, McLaughlin helped the Leopards to a 33-23 (.589) record in addition to being an active recruiter and scouting coordinator for the program.
In completing his undergraduate degree at Boston College, McLaughlin spent three seasons as a manager working with BC’s men’s basketball program. He supplied support in organizing and running offseason workouts with the Eagle coaching staff, in conducting film edits for scouting purposes, and in coordinating travel plans.
Outside of this work, McLaughlin has also been active on the summer camp and AAU scene. He has worked prospect camps at Boston College, Brown University, University of Pennsylvania, Wesleyan University, and Yale University. In addition, he has worked for BasketBull and Hoop Mountain in coordinating exposure events and AAU tournaments.
