UNIVERSITY OF ROCHESTER YELLOWJACKETS
Daniel Barbash- Assistant Coach

Daniel Barbash

  • Title
    Volunteer Men's Tennis Assistant Coach

Daniel Barbash joined the University of Rochester tennis coaching staff in September of 2011 after recently graduating from the University of Rochester in May 2011.  He volunteers his time as an assistant coach for the Yellowjackets while working full time in a neuroscience research lab on campus and applying to medical school.

Dan was a four year varsity starter for the Yellowjackets, beginning in the spring of his freshman year.  He was a doubles specialist freshman and sophomore year, before making an impact in the singles lineup his junior and senior year. He played at all three doubles positions throughout his career and as high as 5th singles.  He was also a co-captain his senior year.

Academically, Dan majored in Biomedical Engineering and also received a minor in Optics.  While completing his major he was a teaching assistant (TA) for several classes and was involved in several research projects.  His research as an undergraduate dealt with the vestibular system while his current research deals more with the visual system as well as its interaction with the vestibular system.   He was a three time UAA All-Academic honoree and an ITA Scholar-Athlete.

In his time off from prior to entering medical school, Dan is looking forward to traveling around the world (recently went to South Korea) and running both a half-marathon as well as a full-marathon.
