Gabby McCarthy joins the University of Rochester Track & Field and Cross Country coaching staff in 2025 after a successful career as a distance runner at SUNY Geneseo over the last four years.

McCarthy finished off her collegiate career in the spring of 2025, earning First Team All-America honors after a sixth place finish in the 10,000 meters at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships. She also is a two-time All-Atlantic Region Track & Field champion, winning both the indoor and outdoor 5,000 meters in 2025.

Additionally, McCarthy competed at the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships in 2024, helping Geneseo to a top-10 team finish. Overall, she was a six-time all-conference selection throughout her career, earning two cross country honors and four accolades in outdoor track and field and received All-Niagara Region honors in cross country as a senior.

Over four years, McCarthy was on 12 conference championship winning teams, spanning indoor and outdoor track & field and cross country throughout her time with the Knights. The Knights also captured four AARTFC titles in track and field with McCarthy competing at the regional competition.

While at Geneseo, McCarthy got her first experience in the coaching realm with the track and field program, serving as a Recruiting and Administrative Intern with the Knights. She shadowed the track and field coaches, created recruiting letters and contributed towards the teams social media efforts in recruiting.

McCarthy graduated from SUNY Geneseo in 2025 with a bachelor’s degree in Sociomedical Sciences, also minoring in Biology.
