Christenson enters her first season as an assistant coach with the Yellowjacket women’s soccer program, having come to the River Campus after spending the last nine years as the Head Women’s Soccer Coach at Keuka College in Keuka, NY.
Over eight seasons with the Wolves, Christenson won 42 contests, including a pair of 13-win campaigns in 2018 and 2019, capturing the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) regular-season title in 2018 en route to Coach of the Year honors.
Under Christenson’s tenure, 13 Wolves earned All-Conference honors from the Empire 8 and NEAC, including the 2018 NEAC Rookie and Defensive Player of the Year, 83 were named to the Empire 8’s President List, 44 were named NEAC Scholar-Athletes and seven were selected to the College Sports Communicators Academic, formerly CoSIDA, All-District Team.
Prior to joining the Wolves, Christenson began her coaching career and still serves as a Head Coach with the RNYFC Soccer Club in Rochester, NY, coaching U12, U16, U17 and U18 girls' soccer.
A 2012 graduate of the University of Connecticut, Christenson played four seasons professionally, including a season with the Portland Thorns of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) after they selected her in the fifth round of the 2013 NWSL Supplemental Draft.
That season, Christenson helped the Thorns to a 2013 NWSL Championship before spending her final two seasons of professional soccer overseas in Sweden for Mallbackens IF, and in France for Yzeure Allier.
Christenson began her professional career in Ottawa, Canada with the Ottawa Fury of the USL W-League, scoring 10 goals over 23 games while helping the Fury to a league title.
A four-year letterwinner and two-year team captain for the Huskies, Christenson helped UConn to a pair of NCAA Tournament appearances in 2009 and 2010, scoring 11 goals and 10 assists over her four-year career. A two-time Big East Academic All-Star, Christenson was also named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District 1 First Team in 2010.
Christenson earned her bachelor’s degree in sports management from UConn in Storrs, CT in May 2012, and her master’s degree in arts, coaching and athletics administration from Concordia University Irvine in Irvine, CA in Aug. 2017.
