Jim Mercer is in his fifth year of volunteer coaching at the University of Rochester in 2023.
Mercer brings with him a wealth of collegiate volleyball coaching experience, ranging from junior college to NCAA Division II and III. He served in various capacities at SUNY Brockport, RPI, Daemen College, Texas A&M Commerce, Genesee C.C. and Glenville State College.
In addition, Mercer has been active in coaching junior volleyball throughout his career, including locally in the Rochester area at a variety of schools and clubs.
Mercer graduated in 1985 from SUNY Potsdam with a bachelors degree in English Literature and French. He earned a bachelors degree in Physical Education from SUNY Brockport in 1990 and earned a masters degree in Kinesiology from Texas A&M Commerce in 2005.
