Emily Wylam

Emily Wylam has served as Head Coach of the Rochester swimming and diving program for 12 seasons, following completion of the 2025-26 campaign.

Overall in her time with Rochester, Wylam has a dual meet record of 58-48-1 (.547) with the men and a 70-42 (.625) mark with UR's women.

Last season, the Yellowjacket women completed the first undefeated dual meet season in 50 years, finishing with a 9-0 record, including a pair of wins over Division I opponents. The men were 3-5, with both genders finishing seventh at the UAA Championships and second at the Ithaca Bomber Invitational. Sophomore women's diver Kaela Springer earned CSCAA All-America honors after finishing 14th at the NCAA Division III Championships, with Springer also becoming the first Yellowjacket to claim a title at the NCAA Regional Diving Championships.

For their performance in the classroom in 2025-26, seven individuals garnered College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors, 19 men's and women's team members were named UAA All-Academic and two received CSCAA Honorable Mention Scholar All-America praise. UR's men ranked eighth in Division III for the highest team GPA during the fall semester.

During Wylam's tenure, Rochester has been represented by eight women and two men at the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships, with two relays and two individuals earning All-America honors. UR as a team ended in 28th place at NCAA's, scoring 24.5 points during the 2014-15 season.

Out of the water, UR's teams have excelled under Wylam's guidance. The Yellowjacket women have earned the CSCAA Scholar All-America Team recognition for 24 straight semesters while the men have earned 22 total honors from the CSCAA. In 2018-19, the UR men ranked as a team in the top-20 in Division III in both the fall and spring semesters for their team GPA which soared above 3.50. 

Additionally, 32 student athletes have been named individual Scholar All-Americans by the CSCAA during Wylam's time with Rochester. Three women, Lauren Bailey '15, Emily Simon '17 and Sophie Lever '23 have been elected College Sports Communicators Academic All-Americans under Wylam. 
 
Wylam came to the University after serving as associate head coach for men’s and women’s swimming at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio from 2010-14.
 
With Wylam on the deck, CWRU swimmers achieved a multitude of honors – both in the pool and in the classroom. During Wylam’s four years, Case set 48 school records, had two UAA individual champions, 35 All-UAA performers (finishing third or higher in an event), 60 NCAA provisional qualifiers, three NCAA qualifiers, and five All-Americans.
 
Before joining the staff at CWRU, Wylam worked as a graduate assistant men’s and women’s swimming coach from 2008-2010 at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California. Pacific, a Division I institution, broke three school records, won five Big West events, set one Big West record, produced three NCAA provisional qualifiers, and one NCAA qualifier. Pacific had one swimmer earned Scholar All-America honors from the CSCAA. Wylam earned her M.A. in Sports Sciences with a concentration in Sports Psychology in 2010.
 
She graduated from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio in 2008 with a B.A. in Psychology. In the water, she was a four-time Mid-American Conference champion in the 100-yard and 200-yard backstroke (2006 and 2007). She set the MAC record and team record in the 100-yard backstroke in 2006. OU won the MAC championship in 2008. Wylam earned First Team All-MAC honors in 2006, 2007, and 2008. She was a team captain in her junior (2006-07) and senior (2007-08) years. She was selected as a Scholar All-American by the CSCAA in 2008.
 
Wylam was an age group coach with the Coast Guard Blue Dolphins in Yorktown, Virginia from 2005-08 and with Tiger Aquatics in Stockton, California from 2008-10.
