ROCHESTER, NY (Oct. 11) – Alison Collins scored the only goal of the game to lift the University of Rochester over University Athletic Association rivals New York University at Edwin Fauver Stadium.
The game was a close defensive battle with the Yellowjackets out-shooting the Violets 8 to 6. The winning goal came in the 58th minute of play. Collins blasted a 20-yard shot just inside the right post after receiving a perfect pass from Anne McMahon. The score was her 9th of the season.
Adrianne Hulchanski made four saves to earn the shutout for Rochester. Alison Myers and Stacy Tarver split time in goal for NYU. Myers had one save and Tarver allowed the goal.
With the win, the Yellowjackets improve to 6-4-1 over all and 1-1-0 in the UAA. The Violets are now 5-6-0, 0-2-0 in the UAA.
The evening's game was played in front of a spirited crowd of students, parents, and alumni as part of the University's Meliora Weekend celebration. Next weekend Rochester will host two UAA games. Friday they will face Carnegie Mellon University on a “Catch Yellow Fever” night with half-time entertainment and giveaways. On Sunday afternoon they will play the 3rd ranked Eagles of Emory University.
