Carnegie Mellon's Ericka Anderson scored with two seconds left in the second sudden death overtime to give the Tartans a 1-0 win over the Yellowjackets in women's soccer.
Anderson's heroics came after CMU goalkeeper Megan Monroe made three brilliant saves late in the second OT to keep the Yellowjackets off the scoreboard. First, she deflected an eight-yarder from Emily Urbanczyk over the crossbar for a corner kick.
Off the corner, she stopped Anne McMahon. She ended the flurry by diving to her right and pulling an Urbanczyk rocket back after it roared past her.
In the dying seconds of the match, the Tartans pushed forward. Margaret Beck chipped a long ball upfield and Rochester goalkeeper Sarah Malecki dashed off the line to clear it. Anderson reached it first and just headed it into the air, 25 yards from goal. The ball bounced towards the open net and just under the bar, a split second before Malecki got back.
Rochester is 6-5-1 overall, 1-2 in the UAA. CMU is 7-1-3 overall, 1-1-1 in the UAA.
The Yellowjackets host Emory University on Sunday at 1:15 pm, following a men's game between the same institutions.
