ROCHESTER, NY (Sept. 13) – Alison Collins earned her second hat trick of the season as the University of Rochester defeated SUNY Geneseo 5-0 at Edwin Fauver Stadium.
The Yellowjackets struck early with a goal from Collins assisted by Emily Urbanczyk at 4:37. Approximately one minute later, Kristin Kelly headed the ball into the net off a corner kick from Karen Forsythe to give Rochester at 2-0 lead. The Yellowjackets' third goal of the first half was a high 45 yard blast by Forsythe at 18:44. Rochester also started off the second half with a bang as Urbanczyk again connected with Collins at 49:28. Collins headed in her third goal off a pass from Sarah Crimmins fifteen minutes later.
The Yellowjackets out shot the Blue Knights 20-4. Geneseo's best opportunity came at 86:12 when they were awarded a penalty kick. Rochester's Sarah Malecki stopped the attempt by Jackie Powers.
Adrianne Hulchanski got the shutout for the Yellowjackets.
Rochester improves to 4-2-0 on the season and breaks the Blue Knights undefeated streak. They fall to 2-1-3.
The Yellowjackets will be on the road until October, but will be in town facing the Tigers at RIT on September 23.
