Lawrence "Larry" Palvino '59, a distinguished alumnus and a charter member of the University's Athletic Hall of Fame, passed away on September 21.
Mr. Palvino earned All-America honors for three consecutive seasons – 1956, 1957, 1958 - as a lineman for the football team. As a senior, he captained the undefeated 1958 team. He earned a baccalaureate degree in history in 1959. He was awarded his J.D. from Albany Law School/Union University in 1963.
In 1964, he was admitted to the bar in New York State. In 1969, he was made a partner in Harter, Secrest, & Emery where he practiced law for 34 years.
Mr. Palvino served the University in a variety of capacities, including Chair of the Garnish Scholarship Committee, Founding Chair of the Alumni Hellenic Council, and as a member of the Trustees Council. He was an active participant in the Alumni Recruiting Luncheons.
He served on the Oak Hill Country Club Board, the Rochester Lumber Company Board, the McQuaid Jesuit High School Board, and the Becket Hall Board.
Mr. Palvino was a member of the inaugural induction class into the University's Athletic Hall of Fame in 1992.
