First half goals by Katie Poeth and Sally Jensen plus a dominating presence overall carried the Yellowjackets to a 2-0 field hockey victory over Elmira College at Fauver Stadium on Wednesday night.

Poeth, the leading scorer and a Regional All-American each of the last two seasons, netted her first of the campaign less than 12 minutes into the contest. She scored from straight on, eight yards out.

Jensen doubled the lead one second before the match was 25 minutes old. She scored from right wing.

Rochester outshot the Soaring Eagles, 26-2.

Elmira had beaten Rochester twice last season, once in the regular season, then again in the New York State Championships.
