Rochester, NY (Sept. 6) – Rochester broke open a scoreless game with four goals in a 21-minute span in the second half and went on to a 4-0 victory in field hockey at Edwin Fauver Stadium here today.
Erin Charnow, Katie Poeth, and Sally Jensen each had one goal and one assist for the Yellowjackets. Rochester's other goal was cored by Celinda Fletcher.
The Yellowjackets (2-0) outshot the Lakers (0-3) 18-1. Rochester goaltender Pamela Sheffield earned her second shutout. She did not have a save.
For Oswego, Ashley Perkins played the first 62:29. She made five saves but gave up all four goals. Tiffani Vattiato played the final 7:31 and made two saves.
Charnow opened the scoring at 39:35, assisted by Heidi Davies. Poeth made it 2-0 at 45:30 with assists from Charnow and Jessica Cassavaugh.
Fletcher tallied her first of the year at 57:59 with Jensen getting an assist. Jensen completed the scoring at 60:54, set up by Poeth.
