The Rochester Women's Soccer team improved to 2-1-0 for the season with a 3-0 victory over visiting St. John Fisher College this afternoon at Fauver Stadium.
Rochester controlled this game offensively from the start and maintained the attack throughout the 90 minutes. The 'Jackets outshot Fisher 31-4 and held a 16-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Leading the way for Rochester were forwards Anne McMahon and Portia Bridges. The 'Jackets opened the scoring at the 3:36 mark after a Karen Forsythe corner kick. Forsythe's kick landed in the goal box and Emily Urbanczyk tapped the ball to McMahon, who then blasted it past the Fisher goalkeeper for the early 1-0 advantage. Bridges was not done. In the 81st minute she received a pass from Laura Tobias in the center of the box and tapped it into the net with a left-footed shot to close out the scoring.
Fisher goalkeeper Stacey Gable made 10 saves in net for the Cardinals (1-3-0 overall). Adrienne Hulchanski started in net for Rochester, playing the first 75 minutes and making 1 save. Molly Leitch played the final 15 minutes to preserve the shutout victory.
